star wars 8 logoThe title for the next installment in the Star Wars saga has been announced.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is the name of Star Wars: Episode VIII.

There isn’t much detail about the film yet, but we believe Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher (in her final role as General Leia Organa), Daisy Ridley, Adam Drivers, and John Boyega – are all reprising their roles from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi was written and directed by Rian Johnson. The film was produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman and executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin, and Tom Karnowski.

Filming on Episode VIII had finished prior to the death of Carrie Fisher in December 2016.

The film was originally slated for release in May 2017, but it will now arrive in theaters on December 15.
