This past week was a week full of exciting Disney news, including a really cool (albeit brief) sneak peek at the new Star Wars film.

Guests on the Disney Cruise Line can now use the Navigator app to stay connected onboard via the all-new mobile messaging feature.
The Disney Cruise Line’s Navigator app is a useful tool for cruisers and is available on the Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, Disney Magic, and Disney Wonder.
The app allows guests to find information on character experiences, deck parties, dining, entertainment, live shows, ports of call, and more.
Guests can also use the app to explore the ship via their mobile device.

The Force has awakened.
In a move that was sure to break the Internet, Disney released the official teaser trailer for Star Wars – The Force Awakens on iTunes today. The trailer is also being shown in 30 theaters around the country.
But there’s no need to buy a $10 movie ticket just to see the trailer when you can visit iTunes to watch the 88-second trailer over and over and over again.
After this weekend the trailer can be seen in theaters around the world beginning December 1.

The Pop Up Santa holiday initiative has been happening since November 11, and recently ABC Family claimed “ownership” of the Pop Up Santa events during a segment on ABC’s Good Morning America.
The network surprised the morning program’s Times Square audience with Pop Up Santa gifts to celebrate the ’25 Days of Christmas’ programming event on ABC Family.
The Pop Up Santa initiative includes more than 50 local giveaways where unsuspecting people are giving gift cards, cold weather gear, and even new bikes.

The Walt Disney World Resort has released additional information for entertainment on New Year’s Eve.
Guests who are ringing in the New Year at Epcot will find a night-long party with a DJ and light show at the Future World Fountain Stage, dancing under a smoke-billowing dragon in the China pavilion, Euro-pop and lasers in the Italy pavilion, and a Latin band and DJ at the America Gardens Stage.

During the Christmas holiday season, Disney Golf is hosting a series of one-day golf camps for kids.
The special junior golf camps are scheduled for December 22, 23, 29, and 30 at Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course at the Walt Disney World Resort.
Participants will receive PGA instruction in all aspects of the game including putting and on-course play. The junior golfers will receive prizes and have a chance to play games while learning the basics of the game of golf. Kids ages 7-17 can register for the camps. Registration can …
The Walt Disney Company and the Turner Classic Movies (TCM) channel are announcing a partnership that will lead to changes at The Great Movie Ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
TCM will join two divisions of The Walt Disney Company and will not only help make the (much-needed) changes to the Great Movie Ride, but will also receive “Presented by” credits on the attraction’s posters, banners, and marquees.
The ride will also feature the TCM logo.

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts was recently honored with several Thea Awards from the Themed Entertainment Associated (TEA).
The awards recognize the “outstanding achievements in the themed entertainment industry in addition to the creative talent behind each attraction or experience.”
Disneyland’s it’s a small world received the Thea Classic award which is given to attractions that have withstood the test of time and endured for more than 20 years. The incoming TEA president Steve Birket said the attraction is a “timeless classic” and is a “metaphor for our increasingly global industry.”
