The Week in Disney News – Food & Wine Festival Updates, New Show for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, and More

Judging by the weather outside it is now officially summer, but we’re already excited about this fall at the Walt Disney World Resort thanks to some big news last week!
First, Disney announced some really big news for this year’s Epcot International Food and Wine Festival. This year marks the 20th anniversary of this fan-favorite foodie event and we heard about new dishes debuting at the marketplace booths, a new premium event, and even new artists coming for the Eat to the Beat Concert Series!

Is Walt Disney World Resort Considering a Tiered Ticket Pricing System?

A one-day ticket to the Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort already costs $105 plus tax for guests ages 10 and older, but is a new tiered ticket system on the way?
There’s been a lot of online chatter this week about a survey Disney Parks and Resorts is sending out to some past guests.
This survey is reportedly asking guests their opinions on a “tiered” ticket pricing system that would be based on what time of year you visit Disney World.

More Details Announced for Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration ‘Decades’ Collection

As part of the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration the Disneyland decades are being celebrated with special merchandise collections.
The first collection, 1955-1964 was released this week and the artwork on the merchandise includes a mermaid, a tiki bird, and the Disneyland logo.
The additional decade artwork was released by Disney this week and it includes art representing ‘it’s a small world,’ Haunted Mansion, and more for ’65-’74; patriotic art and Jiminy Cricket for ’75-’84; Star Wars for ’85-’94; Aladdin and more for ’95-’04; and Pixar images for ’05’-’14.

Drew Brees Passing Academy Returns to ESPN Wide World of Sports this Summer

For the third year, the Drew Brees Passing Academy and 7on7 Tournament are returning to the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at the Walt Disney World Resort.
Several NFL stars will be joining Brees at the event including Larry Fitzgerald, Patrick Peterson, and Mark Ingram.
The NFL players will be coaching more than 20 prep football teams from around the country and each player will be training the athletes in the position he plays. The event features one day of position training and two days of 7on7 tournaments.

Details Announced for 20th Annual Epcot Food & Wine Festival Including New Dishes and Special Events

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival and Disney is starting to release details about the festival.
New dishes coming to this year’s festival include a Grilled Sweet and Spicy Bush Berry Shrimp with Pineapple, Peppers, Onions, and Snap Peas at the Australia booth, a Seared Venison Loin with Wild Mushroom Ragout and Kumara Dumpling at the New Zealand booth, and Pepper Bacon Mac ‘n Cheese at the Farm Fresh booth.

New Series ‘Best Friends Whenever’ to Debut on Disney Channel June 26

Disney Channel’s newest series, Best Friends Whenever, is scheduled to debut on June 26.
The show follows best friends Shelby and Cyd who gain the power to travel back and forth in time thanks to a science experiment gone wrong. Best Friends Whenever premieres after the debut of Teen Beach 2.
In the series Shelby and Cyd can leap backward and forward in time whenever they want and they must decide if they should fix mistakes in the past or look into the future.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party to Include All-New Show

This fall Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will include an all-new show at the Castle Forecourt Stage.
The show, Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, includes the Sanderson Sisters from Disney’s Hocus Pocus. The sisters have returned to the mortal world for one night and have decided to throw a Halloween party.
The Disney villains will be helping Winifred, Mary, and Sarah to conjure up the “ultimate Hocus Pocus Party Potion” and cast a spell on all the guests at the Magic Kingdom.

New Exhibit Unveiled in The Disney Gallery to Celebrate Disneyland’s Diamond Celebration

As part of the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration a new exhibit has recently opened at The Disney Gallery.
The exhibit – Drawing Disneyland: The Early Years – Imagineers Who Helped Bring Walt’s Dream To Life – was unveiled on May 22 during the 24-hour party at Disneyland the kicked off the Diamond Celebration.
The Disney Gallery is located in the lobby of The Disneyland Story presenting Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.

‘Tomorrowland’ T-Shirt Available at Disney Parks Online Store Until May 28

You have just a couple more days to visit the Disney Parks online store and order the limited-edition Tomorrowland T-shirt.
This new T-shirt was created by Disney Design Group Artist Richard Terpstra in honor of the new Disney film Tomorrowland which opened in theaters on May 22.
The film stars George Clooney as a scientist and former boy-genius Frank Walker. Tomorrowland was written by LOST writer and co-creator Damon Lindelof and Brad Bird based on a story by Lindelof and Jeff Jensen. Brad Bird (The Incredibles) also directed the film.

Disneyland Debuts All-New Made with Magic Merchandise for Diamond Celebration

The Disneyland Diamond Celebration is officially underway and guests can add some sparkle to the nighttime events with the all-new Made with Magic merchandise.
The new merchandise items include the first new Made with Magic ear hat released at Disneyland since 2012. The new ear hat features the 60th anniversary pattern and a specially designed patch.
Other new Made with Magic items include a paintbrush with multiple light up functions. Guests will find that the paintbrush works the same way as the Sorcerer Mickey wand. The paintbrush can also be used to …
