British Man Changes Name to “Buzz Lightyear,” Honoring the Beloved Disney Pixar Character

Twenty-six year old Steve Bolton, from the U.K., is such a big Toy Story fan that he changed his name in celebration of Disney Pixar’s “Toy Story 3” release in British cinemas. As of Monday, the uber-fan who daylights as a mechanic, can now officially be called “Buzz Lightyear!” “The Post Chronicle” is reporting that the space-ranger, formally known as Steve, has already moved to obtain credit cards, a passport, and a license with his new identity and hopes to sign autographs for children.

“I hope kids will ask me for my autograph. It’s going to feel great signing my name Buzz Lightyear and introducing myself to people at parties.” (- Birmingham Mail)

Lightyear has been eagerly anticipating the release of a 3rd movie in the “Toy Story” franchise for 11 years and claims to have always wanted “a cool American name like Buzz.” He also noted that his friends have been making fun of him for having a chin & “cheesy grin” like the animated space-ranger, so the name choice is appropriate.

“I’m a massive fan of Toy Story, they are my favorite films and I’ve always thought Buzz would be the ultimate action hero – if he wasn’t a toy. But it’s a great name, a great film and my girlfriend is going to love telling people she’s going out with Buzz Lightyear.” (- Birmingham Mail)
