Dick Van Dyke & The Vantastix to Perform at D23 Expo

Guests attending the already jam-packed D23 Expo in a few weeks now have yet another exciting performance to look forward to. Today, it was announced that Disney Legend Dick Van Dyke and his vocal quartet, Dick Van Dyke and the Vantastix, will be performing at the Expo. The group, made up of Van Dyke and musicians Mike Mendyke, Bryan Chadima and Eric Bradley, will perform a selection of songs from Van Dyke’s legendary career on stage and screen, as well as pop songs and Disney hits. Dick Van Dyke & The Vantastix will perform at the D23 Expo at 8:15 PM on Friday, August 19.

Originally sparked by a chance encounter between Dick Van Dyke and Mike Mendyke at a coffee shop in September 2000, Dick Van Dyke & The Vantastix has gone on to perform for numerous charity events and benefits, singing at such famed venues as the Hollywood Bowl. The group has also performed on television for such programs as the TV Land Awards and Larry King Live.

“Hard work and planning are important if one wants to get ahead in life,” Van Dyke says. “More important is leaving one’s self open to the twists and turns, the wonderful surprises that life has to offer. If you can’t bend with the wind, go with the flow, you’re gonna miss some great adventures. These three guys walked into my life from out of nowhere and turned my Golden Years into pure platinum. We always have a great time performing together, and we’re looking forward to appearing at the D23 Expo.”

In addition to the performance, the group’s inaugural a capella album, Put on a Happy Face, will be on sale at the Expo in the D23 Expo Treasure Trove Store. The D23 Expo will be taking place August 19-21, 2011 at the Anaheim Convention Center. To purchase tickets, visit the event’s official website.
