Disney Shuts Down ‘Epic Mickey’ Studio Junction Point

30 January 2013 No Comment

Junction Point, the game developer behind Epic Mickey and the follow-up sequel, has been shut down by Disney.

In a statement released by the company, Disney said:

It was with much sadness that we informed our teams today of changes to our Games organization, which include the closure of Junction Point Studios. These changes are part of our ongoing effort to address the fast-evolving gaming platforms and marketplace and to align resources against our key priorities. We’re extremely grateful to Warren Spector and the Junction Point team for their creative contributions to Disney with Disney Epic Mickey and Disney Epic Mickey 2.

The studio, founded by Warren Spector in 2005, released both Epic Mickey and Epic Mickey 2: The Power of TwoGiven the repeated intentions of Disney to move away from console gaming, this sad bit of news isn’t much of a surprise. What do you think about the closure of Junction Point?
