More Details Emerge About New Fantasyland ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Experience

More details emerged today about what’s going on behind the construction wall at Magic Kingdom.

While the Fantasyland expansion in Walt Disney World’s oldest park continues to progress, we’re learning more about one of the new areas that will be featured, Belle’s Village from Beauty and the Beast.  Although we’ve previously heard details about Beast’s Castle, which will house the massive Be Our Guest restaurant, as well as Gaston’s Tavern, today was the first chance to hear about Maurice’s workshop.

The charming house and workshop, which Belle shares with her father, Maurice, in the story, will be the first scene that fans encounter in the Beauty and the Beast experience.  Here, guests will magically step through the enchanted mirror that Beast provided to Belle as a momento of her time in the castle.  Once through the mirror, guests will find themselves in a very special part of Beast’s castle:  the library that he bestows as a gift upon Belle.  It is here that we’ll find Belle – with the help of Lumiere, the story’s very helpful candlestick.

Although Disney has not provided a specific opening date for each attraction, the company continues to say that the public can look forward to the expansion opening in phases, beginning next year.
