News About Disney’s Wizard of Oz Prequel

22 April 2010 One Comment

News is trickling in about Disney’s new Wizard of Oz prequel!

Sam Mendes — a top pick for director who holds an academic understanding of children’s fantasy literature — will soon be meeting with Rich Ross and other Disney Studios executives to discuss the film, and Robert Downey Jr. is a favorite to play the Wizard himself.

The film would follow in the footsteps of Alice in Wonderland and be shot in 3-D, as the “Oz” set would benefit from the “z-axis” technology in the same way Alice did.

The film is being projected to release as early as 2012.
