Principal Photography Begins on Disney’s Live Action Film ‘Cinderella’

Production has started on Disney’s new live action feature film Cinderella, starring Lily James and Richard Madden.
The film is being directed by Academy Award nominee Kenneth Branagh (Thor) and in addition to James (Downton Abbey) and Madden (Game of Thrones), also stars Cate Blanchett (The Aviator) as Lady Tremaine, and Helena Bonham Carter (The King’s Speech, Alice in Wonderland) as the Fairy Godmother. Holliday Grainger (Anna Karenina) and Sophie McShera (Downton Abbey) play stepsisters Anastasia and Drisella, respectively. Kenneth Branagh In Talks to Direct Disney’s Live-Action ‘Cinderella’

When Disney broke the news that Mark Romanek would no longer be directing their live-action version of Cinderella, the fate of the highly anticipated film was unclear.
Now, media sources are reporting that the Mouse House is in negotiations with Kenneth Branagh to helm the movie. If all goes well, Cinderella should start shooting in London this fall.
Cate Blanchett is also still slated to take on the role of the wicked stepmother, although Disney is still searching for the perfect fit for the lead role. If all goes according to plan, the film should hit …

Cate Blanchett in Talks to Join Disney’s Live Action ‘Cinderella’

Disney’s live-action remake of Cinderella has been under development since 2010, and now rumors are circulating that Cate Blanchett is in talks to be the first cast member to sign onto the project.
Blanchett is rumored to play the role of Cinderella’s evil stepmother, in a re-telling that ex music video director Mark Romanek is slated to direct. He’ll be working from a screenplay directed by Chris Weitz, who took inspiration from Aline Brosh McKenna’s initial pitch to the media giant.
