Walt Disney World Resort Celebrates Anniversary with 40 Days of Giving

To celebrate Walt Disney World Resort’s 40th anniversary this year, the company has embarked on a “Shine On” campaign with 40 days of giving back across the Central Florida region. The campaign will have prize patrols that will surprise and reward school districts, nonprofit groups and organizations that work towards improving the lives of local children.
Throughout the year, Walt Disney World has contributed more than $28 million and 228,000 volunteer hours to various local community efforts, and has donated time and money to helping children and families in need. With …

Disney Generates $18 Billion in Economic Activity Across Central Florida

On Wednesday, Walt Disney World released a study that looked at the company’s economic impact in Central Florida in 2009.
Al Weiss, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts President, said “Our company generated more than $18 billion in total economic activity throughout the state in that one year.” Disney officials also said that their company was able to create more than 160,000 jobs in Florida during that same year, and that the revenue generated represents about 2.5 percent of the state’s overall gross domestic products.

Disney Releases Statement Regarding Death of Cast Member at Animal Kingdom

Previously, we told you that Russell Sherry Roscoe, 52, of Webster, Florida, died early Monday of injuries he sustained while working on the Primeval Whirl ride at Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World.  Roscoe was hit by a moving ride vehicle, and suffered what the Orlando Sentinel described as “massive  head injuries.”
