Tokyo Disneyland Releases 2011 Attendance Numbers

Despite the 8.9 magnitude earthquake and tsunami that devastated Japan and parts of Tokyo Disneyland last year, the theme park recently released their attendance numbers for 2011 and experienced a very small loss in guest attendance.

Even though the resort was closed for about one month, the park saw a drop in annual attendance of only 0.01% – that’s equivalent to a mere 19,000 guest decrease. Additionally, Tokyo Disneyland actually saw record attendance numbers during the second half of the year, seeing more than 14,608,000 guests.

According to Disney, the theme park credits the record attendance numbers with two new events that opened last year – “Fantasmic,” a nighttime entertainment show, and their 10th anniversary event “Be Magical,” which ran from September 2011 to March 2012.

Hopefully, Tokyo Disneyland will have another great year with the opening of Toy Story Midway Mania on July 9, 2012.
