ABC Debuting Live Streaming Television App

The first live streaming television mobile app – Watch ABC – is being launched by Disney’s ABC network to select markets starting this week.

Viewers in New York City and Philadelphia can try the app for free until the end of June, and after that date it will be available to paying customers of certain cable and satellite providers including AT&T U-Verse, Comcast, Cablevision, Cox Communications, Midcontinent Communications, and Charter. By the end of the summer, cable subscribers in Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Houston, Raleigh-Durham, and Fresno should also have access to Watch ABC.

ABC is the first network to offer live streaming – both online and mobile – of their programming. The Watch ABC app is available online at, or can be downloaded to the iPhone, iPad, and the Amazon Kindle Fire. It is being reported that the app will soon be available for the Samsung Galaxy tablets.

In addition to live streaming of ABC network programs, the Watch ABC app also offers on-demand programming for users.
