California Runner Jimmy Grabow Finishes First at Disneyland Half Marathon for Second Year in a Row

For the second straight year, Jimmy Grabow of Runner Springs, California was the first person to cross the finish line at the Disneyland Half Marathon on Sunday, September 1. His finish time was 1:07:14, while Ricardo Ramirez finished second with a time of 1:14:30.

Stephanie Dinius was the first woman to cross the finish line with a time of 1:15:47, while last year’s champion Cindy Lynch finished second with a time of 1:25:29.

There were 17,500 runners registered for this year’s Disneyland Half Marathon. The course took the runners through Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, Angel Stadium, and the streets of Anaheim. As is the tradition at a runDisney race, the runners were greeted by Disney characters and cheering fans along the course.

Five thousand runners took on the inaugural Dumbo Double Dare – which included the Disneyland 10K and the Half Marathon. Joining the runners in this challenge were celebrities including Sean Astin (Rudy, Lord of the Rings), Joey Fatone (*NYSYNC), Ali Vincent (Live Big), and Allison Sweeney (The Biggest Loser).

The Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend featured the inaugural Disneyland 10K, the Dumbo Double Dare, the half marathon, the Disneyland 5K race, and kids races. More than 25,000 runners from all 50 states and 15 countries participated in the various races.

The three biggest events – the half marathon, 10K, and Dumbo Double Dare – sold out in 26 hours when registration opened earlier this year.

The next runDisney event is The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-miler Weekend at the Walt Disney World Resort in October, followed by the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend in November. Disneyland will host the Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend in January 2014.
