Disney and Labor Union Agree to Another Contract Extension

Once again, officials from Walt Disney World met with its largest labor group, the Services Trade Council, on Friday, but the two sides still failed to reach agreement on a contract.

The parties did, however, agree to an extension of the current contract, which was scheduled to expire on January 20.  The current contract will now run until February 17.

There is some hope that progress was made, apparently.  According to the Orlando Sentinel, the two sides exchanged some new ideas, and have agreed to meet once more for mediation on February 10.  The talks did at least result in the delay of a strike, which some have feared.

” There is a proposal that they’re evaluating, which might break the logjam,” said Service Trades Council President Harris Raynor. “We’ll have to see.”
