The Walt Disney Company has announced that it will be combining two of its divisions – Disney Consumer Products and Disney Interactive.
The new segment will be called Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media (DCPI) and will be led by Leslie Ferraro, Co-Chair Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media President for DCP, and Jimmy Pitaro, Co-Chair Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media President for Disney Interactive.
The announcement was made by Chief Operating Officer Tom Staggs.
“As technology and digital entertainment continue to evolve, a shared innovation strategy will enable this new segment to create unique and engaging products and experiences that exceed consumers’ expectations,” Staggs said.
The new division was created in response to changing customer preferences and the increase of technology in the marketplace.
The DCPI Labs will be using “cutting edge” technologies to create new products that leverage Disney Interactive’s digital and mobile expertise.
