Disney World Employees Receive Over $400K In Back Pay

Sixty-nine employees of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts received some good news this past week. The Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor recovered $433,819 in back wages for a group of inventory control clerks working within the Disney Parks’ Food and Beverage Department.

An investiation by the division revealed the clerks were not being paid for their work before and after scheduled shifts, as well as work they completed from home and during lunch and meal breaks. Disney does have rules in place regarding scheduling and working during non-scheduled times, but the investigation findings reported managers were not enforcing those guidelines for their employees.

A Disney spokesperson reported additional training will be in place to ensure both employees and managers are well educated regarding company scheduling policies.
