Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy doesn’t arrive in theaters until next summer, but Hallmark has joined the growing group of companies lining up to create products based on the new film franchise.
The company plans to feature the film in stationary and social expression products, including gift and party accessories, cards, ornaments and wrapping paper featuring the film’s characters Peter Quill, Gamora, Drax, Groot, and Rocket Raccoon.
“There is so much excitement and enthusiasm in the marketplace for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy,” said Paul Gitter, senior vice president, licensing, Marvel at Disney Consumer Products. “Hallmark joins an impressive roster of licensees who have formed the cornerstone of a merchandising program that will extend the film to consumers in fresh and interesting ways.”
Guardians of the Galaxy arrives in theaters August 1, 2014, and stars Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, Zoe Saldana, and Benico del Toro. The film follows Peter Quill, Gamora, Drax, Groot, and Rocket Raccoon as they join forces to defeat a cosmic force.
Other companies with plans for Guardians of the Galaxy merchandise include Hasbro, Disguise, C-Life, Mad Engine, and Sideshow Collectibles.
