Metal Detectors Installed at Walt Disney World Resort Theme Parks

wdwThe Walt Disney World Resort has installed metal detectors at all four of the theme parks as of today, December 17.

There is no word on whether the detectors are part of an enhanced security plan for the holidays or if they are permanent. Guests will be selected at random to go through the detectors.

Disney World has also announced it is discontinuing the sale of toy guns and the parks are implementing a ban on costumes for all guests over the age of 14 – even at the annual Halloween parties.

Guests have been reporting an increased presence of deputies, security guards, and patrol dogs in specific areas at the theme parks.

And if you have plans to attend tonight’s screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens at Disney Springs you’ll be walking through a metal detector.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on the new security measures at Walt Disney World Resort. Let us know what you think in the comments.
