Michigan to Host the Filming of Disney’s ‘Oz’

Sources have recently announced that a Detroit, Michigan based studio will be hosting the filming of Disney’s Oz: The Great and Powerful, the prequel to the 1930’s classic Wizard of Oz. This will be the largest feature ever shot in Michigan.

The film, directed by Sam Raimi, tells the story of the wizard (played by James Franco) before he became the “great and powerful” wizard we know from the classic film.

Raleigh Michigan Studios will be hosting the filming of Oz. Filming is expected to begin in August, and the cast and crew will occupy the studio for the remainder of the year.
