Plans Underway at Magic Kingdom for Characters’ New Homes

When Mickey’s Toontown closes at Magic Kingdom this Friday, Mickey and friends will be packing up for a move across the park.

As part of the Fantasyland expansion, some very famous characters had to find new homes.  The princesses were no problem; new digs are being built for them in the near future where Snow White’s Scary Adventures is currently located.  (Don’t worry; Snow White fans will have a brand new ride to celebrate their favorite characters.)  But Mickey, Minnie, and Friends – as well as the Fairies – where were they to go?

It seems that a brand new home is being prepared for all of our favorite characters.

For now, Mickey and Minnie will greet guests in Tomorrowland, while the Princesses will hold court at the Adventureland Terrace.  Tinkerbell and her Fairy friends will be moving to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the rest of February.   But these plans are only temporary, because locations will continue to shift around and change as new homes are made for all of your Disney favorites.

Tink and Friends will move to Epcot this March, just in time for the 18th Annual Flower & Garden Festival, and then will make Epcot their permanent home.  Mickey and Minnie have invited the princesses to join them in their new home in Town Square Exhibition Hall, across from Guest Services at the very front of Magic Kingdom.  The new space is being renovated to accommodate Mickey and Friends with lots of new backdrops.  Once the Princess Fairytale Hall is completed in Fantasyland, the Princesses will move to that location to receive guests.

And when might that be?  Disney is being tight-lipped about when Fairytale Hall is slated to open, since its opening means the closing of Snow White’s Scary Adventures, which is likely to upset some fans who would rather keep the old ride than embrace the new Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, slated to open as part of the expansion.
