The Walt Disney Company Makes $1 Million Commitment to the Hispanic Scholarship Fund

The Walt Disney Company has recently pledged a $1 million commitment to the Hispanic Scholarship Fund to provide scholarships to outstanding Hispanic students.
The donation is part of a three-year agreement between Disney and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund and creates The Walt Disney Company-HSF Scholarship Program.
The program will fund scholarships and support the bilingual and multimedia Public Service Advertising campaign created by the HSF.

The Walt Disney Company Releases Fourth Quarter and Full Year Earnings for Fiscal 2014

The Walt Disney Company has released its fourth quarter and year-end earnings for the fiscal year 2014.
The report showed an 8 percent increase in revenue to a record $48.8 billion and a 22 percent increase in income to a record $47.5 billion.
“Our results for Fiscal 2014 were the highest in the company’s history, marking our fourth consecutive year of record performances,” said Bob Iger, Chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, in a press release.

Movies News – ‘Toy Story 4’ is Happening and ‘Star Wars Episode VII’ Gets an Official Title

If you’re a fan of Disney/Pixar films or Star Wars – or both – this was definitely your week.
Two big movie related stories broke from the House of the Mouse on November 6. First, it was announced that Star Wars: Episode VII has an official title – The Force Awakens.

Disney VoluntEARS Build Playground for Veterans’ Families

Disney VoluntEARS – including Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger – worked to transform an empty lot into a new play area for veterans’ families.
The 140 Disney VoluntEARS worked alongside volunteers from Habitat for Humanity, Heroes Work Here veterans, Golden Oak Ranch staff members, local Santa Calrita, California residents, and organizers from KaBOOM! to build the playground on a campus that is home to veterans’ families.
The design of the playground was based on drawings from kids in the community and the drawings were inspired by their favorite ways to play.

Bob Iger’s Term as Chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company Extended Through June 30, 2018

The Walt Disney Board of Directors has extended Bob Iger’s contract as Chairman and CEO through June 30, 2018.
Iger, 63, has been at the helm of The Walt Disney Company since 2005 and his contract was originally set to expire in 2016.

Frozen is the number one animated movie of all time, and the film was recently honored by its own studio – The Walt Disney Studios.

Disney Making Plans for a Bigger ‘Star Wars’ Presence in Theme Parks

Disney has big plans when it comes to Star Wars and the company’s theme parks.
During a conference call to discuss third quarter results for The Walt Disney Company, CEO Bob Iger made it clear that the company is planning a greater Star Wars presence in the near future.
Iger said the company plans to release the first look at new Star Wars themed attractions next year. Disney and Lucasfilm are also hosting a Star Wars Celebration on April 16-19, 2015 in Anaheim.

The Walt Disney Company Releases Third Quarter Earnings for Fiscal Year

The Walt Disney Company has released its fiscal year third quarter earnings report.
The report showed that the company’s Parks and Resorts division had another successful quarter with revenues increasing 8 percent to $4 billion and operating income increasing 23 percent to $848 million.
The higher operating income was due to increased guest spending and higher attendance. The increase in guest spending was partially due to an increase in ticket prices, and increased spending for food and merchandise.

La Place de Rémy Based on ‘Ratatouille’ Opens at Disneyland Paris

Disney’s first themed area based on the hit film Ratatouille has opened at Disneyland Paris.
La Place de Rémy features the new attractions L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy. The attraction shrinks guests down to “rat size” and whisks them on an adventure over the rooftops of Paris and through Gusteau’s.
The ride vehicles are shaped liked rats (and they’re called ‘ratmobiles’) and they scurry through the kitchen and dining room of Gusteau’s before ending at Bistrot Chez Rémy.
La Place de Rémy was officially dedicated in late June at a ceremony that included …
