Ron Howard May Direct Disney’s ‘The Graveyard Book’

Last August, we told you that Disney had pulled the plug on their adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book. Originally, Henry Selick was slated to direct the stop-motion film based on the book about Nobody Owens, who is raised by ghosts after his family is murdered.
Now, sources are reporting that Disney plans to bring back their ideas for The Graveyard Book, with Ron Howard at the helm. According to media reports, the studio has re-configured the film to be a live-action adaptation, and are currently in negotiations with Howard to direct.

Disney Pulls the Plug on Henry Selick’s Stop Motion Film

Best known for his work as director for A Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach, and Coraline, sources have just announced that Disney has pulled the plug on Henry Selick’s upcoming stop motion animated film.
Production had already been underway on this as-yet-untitled project, which had been set for a release date of October 4, 2013. Selick has been given permission to take the project to other studios, however, so we may yet see this untitled film!

Disney Acquires Film Rights to Neil Gaiman’s ‘The Graveyard Book’

Disney recently announced that they’ve acquired the film rights to author Neil Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book, a 2008 novel that has won several literary awards since its publication.
The novel has been shopped to various studios the past several several years, but hasn’t gone anywhere. Now, Disney will have a shot at adapting the popular novel for the big screen.
