The Walt Disney Company Named 2013’s ‘Company of the Year’ by Yahoo Finance

The Walt Disney Company had a good year in 2013, ending the year with box office records and park attendance on the rise. The year also marked the 90th anniversary for the Mouse House.

Adding to the success of last year, Yahoo Finance has named The Walt Disney Company at its Company of the Year for 2013.

This award was based on Yahoo’s evaluation of standards covering Disney’s financial performance, friendliness of shareholders, strategic focus, and customer loyalty.

Yahoo Finance explained their choice by stating “no other company other than Disney delivered so much consistent quality in its products, produced more-balanced growth with global reach, or shared more cash with investors while also investing for future growth.”

Yahoo cited specific highlights for their decision including film releases that generated the best box office results in company history, record attendance at theme parks worldwide, a $1 billion profit year for the consumer products division, ratings for Disney cable networks, and company revenue and profits reaching new highs for the third year in a row.

“The Walt Disney Company has honored the past, delivered in the present and positioned for the future better than any other American company,” Yahoo stated in the article. “It's the company's successful striking of this rare balance—while focusing on careful financial stewardship and great customer experiences—that helped Disney edge out all others to be named this year's Yahoo Finance Company of the Year.”
