Tokyo Disneyland & DisneySea Welcomes its 500 Millionth Guest

Tokyo DisneySea opened in September 2001, almost 8 years after Disney opened the gates to its premier park in Japan – Tokyo Disneyland. By 2002 the two parks combined welcomed its 300 millionth visitor and reached 400 million in 2006. On Friday, Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea reached another big milestone, they said “Youkoso!” to their 500 millionth visitor!

Megumi Soma went through the entrance gate of Disneyland at 10:21 a.m. with her family as the lucky guest. A 38-year-old housewife, Soma was the recipient of some amazing gifts; a five-year passport valid for both parks, a five night stay at the Disney Ambassador Hotel, & the prestigious title of being Tokyo Disneyland’s 500 Millionth Guest.

“On receiving the gifts and a flower bouquet at the main entrance, Soma said, “I was very surprised but I’m extremely happy. I want to visit the amusement parks as much as possible with my family.” (- The Mainichi Daily News)

Congratulations to the Soma family!

  • Fun article . . . but check the usage of “it’s” vs. “its” (the latter being the possessive form). Looks like you’ve got a fun website, I look forward to reading up on all the Disney news! 🙂
