The third season of Disney Junior’s Emmy-winning hit series Jake and the Never Land Pirates debuts this Friday – January 3 – on Disney Channel and Disney Junior.
The new season will feature new characters including pirate ghosts, mummies, and robots, while Jake and his crew will discover special superpowers and new gadgets.
Some of the new gadgets include a Mega-Mecha Sword for Jake, a robot suit, and an invisibility ring that helps the gang outwit their adversaries.

The New Year is bringing new duds and more for Duffy the Disney Bear.
The year starts with an all-new 12-inch pre-dressed Duffy celebrating 2014, and he will be joined by a reversible costume that features St. Patrick’s Day and Easter.
In February guests can dress Duffy in several new costumes including Stitch, a yellow Disney Parks rain poncho, and a deluxe costume inspired by Walt Disney’s Pinocchio that comes with a small Jiminy Cricket plush doll.

More than 600 of the best youth soccer clubs are participating in Disney’s Soccer Showcase presented by A.S. Roma from now through January 3 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
This year’s showcase includes 336 boys’ teams and 328 girls’ teams from the United States, Canada, Brazil, Japan, and Guatemala.
The event is rated as the country’s top youth soccer tournament in a Soccer America survey, and three divisions of US Soccer Federations Development Academy Clubs are participating in addition to the US Youth Soccer National League.

Disney pin collectors have a lot to look forward to in 2014 with new monthly and quarterly pin collections arriving throughout the New Year.
Returning next year is the monthly “Piece of Disney History” collection. This collection was first introduced in 2005 and each limited edition pin contains small pieces of items from attractions or shows.

The two teams facing off in the 100th Rose Bowl Game on January 1 made an appearance at the Disneyland Resort on December 26.
The No. 5 BCS-ranked Stanford Cardinal and the No. 4 BCS-ranked Michigan State Spartans took part in a special ceremony at Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle.
Stanford coach David Shaw and Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio appeared with members of their teams along with Disneyland Resort President Michael Colglazier, Mickey Mouse, and the Disneyland Band.

The ESPN Digital Media team launched an all-new SportsCenter app for iOS and Android phones last month and to date more than 10.6 million people have explored the app.
Users who had the ScoreCenter app received the new SportsCenter app as an update to ScoreCenter. The ScoreCenter app had been downloaded to more than 43 million devices.
ESPN’s Senior Vice President of Digital Product Development Ryan Spoon said the new app was not a replacement for ScoreCenter, but rather a way to combine scores with videos, articles, analysis, social activity, and more.

The Doc McStuffins: Time For Your Check Up! app has just been released for Android devices in Google Play and for Kindle tablets in the Amazon Appstore.
This app is one of Disney Junior’s most successful iOS apps and was recently named the 11th most popular iPad app of 2013 by Apple.

The Board of Directors of The Walt Disney Company have elected Jack Dorsey, chairman of Twitter and CEO of Square, Inc., as an independent director.
Dorsey co-founded Twitter and posted the world’s first tweet – “just setting up my twttr” – on March 21, 2006.

The line – called The DCL Project – was developed by merchandiser Laura Caszatt who has also created merchandise for Tren-D in the Downtown Disney Marketplace.
