Star Wars Rebels doesn’t debut until this fall, but fans got a sneak peek at one of the droids from the series.
His name: Chopper.
Chopper is described as a lazy, cranky (but goodhearted) astromech droid.
“If Artoo is the family dog,” said Dave Filoni, executive producer of the show, “Chopper is the cat.”
The droid is a crew member of the Ghost and his job is to keep the starship running for the band of heroes.

Last weekend, Walt Disney World cast members and their families took part in the 4th Annual Walt Disney World Resort Holiday Bird Count.
During the bird count guests were able to join in for the first time during Magical Moments. At Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Art of Animation Resort guests had a chance to count hooded mergansers in a pond between the resorts, in addition to blue herons, tri-colored herons, snowy egrets, and more.

Disney Parks and Resorts recently brought together leaders from 60 nonprofit organizations from around the country for a two-day symposium focused on how adults can make a difference in children’s lives.
The symposium, titled ‘Discover Together,’ took place at the Disneyland Resort and included one day that was dedicated to research and measuring success for nonprofits. Disney also offered attending nonprofits a full day of Disney Institute’s Leadership Excellence training.

The Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival returns to Walt Disney World on March 5 and fans will have a chance to purchase some fun and festive merchandise this year.
Returning for this year’s festival is the popular topiary artwork that debuted at the 2013 festival. This year’s designs were created by Disney’s Yellow Shoes Marketing group and include a Minnie Mouse wind chime, a Donald Duck garden stake, and a Mickey Mouse garden figurine.

Disney is continuing their work with the Heroes Work Here initiative with an announcement of a new scholarship program.
Through a partnership with Student Veterans of America (SVA), Disney announced that Heroes Work Here is awarding three $10,000 scholarships to student veterans who are pursuing a degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (also known as STEM).
In addition to the scholarship money, recipients will also be guaranteed an interview for an internship with The Walt Disney Company.

Disney pin collectors have something new to look forward to – the Hidden Mickey pins are arriving soon at Disney Parks.
These Hidden Mickey pins will soon be appearing on cast members’ lanyards and are used for pin trading with guests. The pins are distributed to cast members by the Disney pin team.
Hidden Mickey pins feature a small Mickey Mouse icon that is hidden in the artwork and collectors will find the words “Hidden Mickey pin” on the backs of the pins.

The registration for the 2014 Disneyland Half Marathon opens today at noon EST!
The Happiest Race on Earth, the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend takes place August 28 through August 31 this year at the Disneyland Resort.
Events during the Half Marathon Weekend include the half marathon, the Disneyland 10K, the Disneyland 5K, the Dumbo Double Dare, Kids Races, the Health and Fitness Expo, and a Pasta Party.

Fans of Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame have likely never seen the musical stage version before, unless they happened to be in Germany more than a decade ago.
That will all change this fall when the musical stage version of the animated classic makes its US debut at the La Jolla Playhouse in La Jolla, California.
The 1996 animated film was based on the Victor Hugo novel and hand an Oscar-nominated score by Alan Menken and lyricist Stephen Schwartz.

Last week cast members from Walt Disney World joined community leaders from Central Florida as the Extreme Village Makeover was revealed at Give Kids the World.
The cast members had donated many volunteer hours to help in the renovation and redesign of a building that honors the thousands of volunteers who serve kids and their families at Give Kids the World. The Extreme Makeover reveal was aired live on ABC’s Good Morning America.
