Disney Junior’s First Original Movie ‘Lucky Duck’ Premieres Friday, June 20

Disney Junior’s first original movie, Lucky Duck, is set to premiere on Friday June 20 and features the voice talents of Broadway and television stars.
The film stars the voice talents of Christian Borle, Megan Hilty, and Tom Cavanagh.
The animated film is geared toward kids ages 2-7 and tells the story of a group of misfit tub toys in search of the kids who love them just the way they are.

Tinker Bell Now Greeting Guests on Main Street U.S.A. at the Magic Kingdom

Everyone’s favorite pixie has found a new home at the Magic Kingdom.
Tinker Bell is now greeting guests inside Tinker Bell’s Magical Nook on Main Street, U.S.A., and there is some Disney magic at work during the meet-and-greet.
When guests enter the Garden Theater in the Town Square Theater they are magically shrunk down to fairy size – so they can fit inside Tink’s home.
Once inside Tinker Bell’s house they can meet the fairy, have photos taken, and see her collection of treasures from the mainland. And then upon exiting the Garden …

Jay Leno Guest Stars on Special One-Hour ‘Phineas and Ferb Save Summer’

Talk show host Jay Leno is set to guest star on a special one-hour episode of Disney’s XD’s Phineas and Ferb.
Leno (The Tonight Show with Jay Leno) will lend his voice talents to Phineas and Ferb Save Summer which airs on Monday, June 9.
This new episode of the animated series is the first of several new summer episodes of the Emmy Award-winning show.
Other guests stars this summer include Jon Stewart (The Daily Show with Jon Stewart), Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games), and Simon Pegg (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol).

Disneyland Resort Announces Special Merchandise Events for June 2014

Just in time for Father’s Day shopping, the Disneyland Resort has announced the June merchandise events.
On June 7, representatives from Goorin Bros. will be at D Street in the Downtown Disney District from 1-4 p.m., giving guests a chance to find the perfect headwear for Dad. Also on June 7, guests can meet artist SHAG at WonderGround Gallery from 5-7 p.m. He’ll be debuting his latest art, “Morning in the Magic Kingdom.”

Walt Disney Company Executive Who Led MyMagic+ Development Announces Plan to Leave Company

The Walt Disney Company executive who led the development of the MyMagic+ project has announced that he is leaving the company.
Nick Franklin is the executive vice president for next-generation experiences at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts and he’s leaving Disney in July. He has worked for the company since 1996.
Franklin was chosen by Disney in 2009 to lead the “NextGen” project which became the MyMagic+ technology project that includes the new FastPass+ reservation system and the MagicBand wristbands that Walt Disney World Resort guests are now using.

Disney Channel Debuts New Logo and All-New On Air Graphics

The Disney Channel is sporting a brand new channel logo.
The network debuted the new channel logo and all-new on-air graphics on May 23 in the U.S. The other 42 Disney Channels worldwide will also get a logo overhaul this year.
All programming, identification spots, and programming menus will feature the new logo, style, and pattern which features a contemporary new look.

Walt Disney World Resort Recognizes 15 Central Florida Students as Disney Dreamers & Doers Shining Stars

The Walt Disney World Resort has recognized 15 local, Central Florida students as Disney Dreams and Doers Shining Stars.
The students selected for the Shining Star distinction include a second grade student who assists disabled students, an eighth grade student who created a documentary that promotes South African girls’ education, and a senior in high school who helped a friend lose more than 100 pounds.

runDisney Announces Inaugural ‘Star Wars’ Half Marathon Weekend at Disneyland in January 2015

runDisney has announced an all-new Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend at the Disneyland Resort January 15-18, 2015.
The races during the weekend including the Star Wars Half Marathon, the Star Wars 10K, and the Star Wars 5K in addition to Kids Races.
The weekend will also feature the Star Wars Rebel Challenge that includes the 10K and the Half Marathon.
The Star Wars Half Marathon features a 13.1 mile “intergalactic adventure” that takes runners through Disney California Adventure, past Disneyland Park, and onto the streets surrounding the Disneyland Resort. The half marathon will …

Harambe Nights Merchandise Arrives at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in June

Harambe Nights, the special Lion King-themed event, begins at Disney’s Animal Kingdom on June 7 and Disney is releasing special merchandise for the event.
Disney Pin collectors will have a chance to pick up a special Lion King mystery pin set that features 10 puzzle pins and two chaser pins. There is a 900 edition size for the puzzle pins and a 600 edition size for the chasers.

Stand-alone ‘Star Wars’ Spinoff Headed to Theaters in 2016

Just when you thought the Star Wars movie news couldn’t get any more exciting than the Episode VII cast announcement a few weeks ago, there’s even bigger news to report.
A stand-alone Star Wars movie is in the works and will be directed by Godzilla director Gareth Edwards.
The as-yet-untitled film is being written by Gary Whitta (Book of Eli) and is scheduled to premiere on December 16, 2016.
