Disneyland Announces Merchandise Events for October 2014

As we head into the spookiest month of the year, Disneyland Resort has some great merchandise events lined up for guests.
Haunted Memories is setting up shop inside the WonderGround Gallery in the Downtown Disney District on October 4 and 5. They’ll be showcasing their scariest pieces throughout the entire month, and Eddie Allen will be appearing from 1-4 p.m. on October 4, 5, 25, and 26.
On October 11 there is an artist signing at WonderGround Gallery with artists Jasmine Becket-Griffith, Bryan Fyffe, Jeff Granito, Sydney Hanson, and Jerrod Maruyama. The …

Disney Releases Sneak Peek of Merchandise for ‘The Twilight Zone’ Tower of Terror 10-Miler Weekend

This year’s The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler Weekend happens this weekend – October 3 and 4 – at the Walt Disney World Resort.
And, as with all runDisney events, there is some new merchandise created just for the event.
The race apparel for this year’s 10-Miler features both long and short sleeve shirts, and the artwork map on the “I Did It” T-shirt is quite villainous. There’s even a black jacket with glow-in-the-dark ink.

Disney Channel’s ‘Monstober’ Programming Event Begins October 2

Disney Channel is airing an entire month of Halloween-themed episodes of the network’s most popular series during the Monstober programming event.
This annual programming event begins Thursday, October 2 with hosts Raini Rodriguez and Calum Worthy.
Monstober’s special events include the premiere of the mystery-adventure special Evermore, a one-hour episode of Phineas and Ferb, and an animated version of the cast of Jessie in a special crossover with Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man: Web-Warriors.

Halloween Themed Treats on the Menu at Walt Disney World Resort

Just in time for the spookiest season, the theme parks at Walt Disney World are serving up some scary sweet treats.
At Disney’s Animal Kingdom guests can stop by Kusafiri Bakery and the Isle of Java for a chocolate brownie with Halloween-themed sprinkles or chocolate mousse topped with pumpkin shaped candies. There’s also a pumpkin muffin on the menu – perfect for breakfast!

Disney Soccer Showcase to Feature Top-Ranked Youth Soccer Clubs

This December some of the best youth soccer clubs from around the country will be competing in Disney’s Soccer Showcase presented by AS Roma.
The event takes place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at the Walt Disney World Resort from December 27 through January 3.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Welcomes Two Baby Gorillas in Past Month

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is celebrating the birth of two baby gorillas in just one month.
The first male gorilla was born August 7 to Azizi and Gino, while the second baby – also a male – was born September 3 to Kashata and Gino. Their family also includes another female named Benga and a four-year old female named Lilly. Kashta is also Lilly’s mother.
The gorilla family lives in the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail.

‘The Lion King’ Stage Musical Has Earned More Than $6 Billion Worldwide

After touring the world’s stages for the past 17 years, The Lion King stage musical has grossed more than $6.2 billion.
This milestone makes the musical the most successful stage production in history, taking that title from The Phantom of the Opera which has earned $6 billion worldwide.

Disney Lends Support to 2014 World Maker Faire New York

Disney recently teamed with the World Maker Faire and the New York Hall of Science to support the World Maker Faire New York.
More than 75,000 kids and families had a chance to experience the festival that works to inspired the inventors of tomorrow.
Disney sponsored a tent at World Maker Faire New York and kids had a chance to see the star of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Big Hero 6, Baymax. Visitors could also use 3D printers to created mini versions of Baymay.

Walt Disney Imagineering Honored for Work on Enchanted Storybook Castle at Shanghai Disneyland

As construction continues at Shanghai Disneyland, the American Institute of Architects has honored Walt Disney Imagineering for their work at the park.
The AIA recently presented Walt Disney Imagineering with its Technology in Architecture Practice Award for successful implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM).
Building Information Modeling uses height, weight, and depth in building design, therefore giving a virtual representation of what the building will look like. Traditional design uses 2D drawings and elevations.
