Fire up your landspeeders and set your course for Central Florida: Disney has announced the official dates for Star Wars Weekends 2011! You’ll be able to get your fill of all things Star Wars-related every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from May 20 through June 12 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The special celebration, marked by one of the largest gatherings of Star Wars characters anywhere, includes appearances by celebrities, trivia challenges, a Jedi Training Academy, opportunities to gather autographs and photos of your favorite stars, and lots of special merchandise.

Emmy-nominated Jonas Brothers‘ sitcom “Jonas L.A.” has been canceled by the Disney Channel after its second season.
After debuting in 2009, Jonas L.A., starring tween heartthrobs The Jonas Brothers, had 4.2 million viewers and was nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Children’s Program category.
According to a Disney Channel rep, the show was “concluded as scheduled after two very successful seasons, and all original episodes of its second season have aired.”

While the Tribune Co. is currently in bankruptcy, former Disney chief Michael Eisner has quietly become a candidate for chairmanship of the post-bankruptcy company.
In an online story Wednesday, the Chicago Tribune said that creditors have had preliminary talks with Eisner — who told Variety that he’s been buying Tribune Co. debt — and other executives about taking over the company chairmanship. The new exec at the helm will replace Sam Zell, who landed the Tribune in bankruptcy one year after his buyout of the company.

The LA Times gives us a full, scene-by-scene preview of what the new Radiator Springs Racers ride in Disney California Adventure’s Cars Land will be like! The ride is scheduled to debut in 2012, and will be based on Epcot’s Test Track technology. Guests will ride in Pixar-esque cars on a “track” made of six acres of rock work, resembling the desert-like backdrop of Pixar’s Cars’ scenery.

The Disney Food Blog is reporting that the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resorts, deluxe-quality hotels located within walking distance of two Disney World theme parks, will be introducing a new Food and Wine event to coincide with the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival.
