Casting Announced for Broadway Run of ‘Peter and the Starcatcher’

We can hardly wait for this spring’s Broadway debut of Peter and the Starcatcher, a prequel to Peter Pan based on the novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. This week, exciting news about the play was announced, as the cast that will be bringing this whimsical show to Broadway was revealed.

Starring in the show’s Broadway run will be the same cast that made the show a sold-out success off-Broadway last spring. Adam Chandler-Berat (Rent off-Broadway, Next to Normal) will play Boy, Celia Keenan-Bolger (Merrily We Roll Along, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) will play Molly, and Christian Borle (Spamalot, NBC’s “Smash”) will play Black Stache.

Also returning to the show from its off-Broadway run will be Teddy Bergman (Seven Minutes in Heaven), Arnie Burton (The 39 Steps), Matt D’Amico (Fizz), Kevin Del Aguila (Jacques Brel…), Carson Elrod (Reckless), Greg Hildreth (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) and David Rossmer (Don’t Quit Your Night Job). As previously announced, the show will also feature the same creative team from the off-Broadway production, including directors Alex Timbers and Roger Rees.

“We are overjoyed to have this incredible company back together,” said producers Nancy Nagel Gibbs and Greg Schaffert. “And we are very grateful that Christian Borle was, in the end, able to work around his commitments to the TV series ‘Smash’ so that he can reprise his role as ‘Black Stache.'”

Producing the show will Gibbs and Schaffert are Disney Theatrical Productions, Eva Price, and Tom Smedes. Here is their official description of the show:

“In this innovative and imaginative new play based on The New York Times best selling Disney-Hyperion novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, a company of 12 actors plays more than a hundred unforgettable characters, all on a journey to answer the century-old question: How did Peter Pan become The Boy Who Never Grew Up? This epic origin story of one of popular culture’s most enduring and beloved characters proves that an audience’s imagination can be the most captivating place in the world.”

Tickets for Peter and the Starcatcher are currently available through Ticketmaster.com with a “priority pre-sale ticket pricing structure.” From now through March 28, tickets purchased for performances through April 29th are only $99 for non-premium orchestra seats and the front mezzanine, or $69 for the rear mezzanine.
