The Week in Disney News: D23 News, DFB Guide to the 2017 Epcot Food and Wine Festival, and More

Happy Sunday! We’re back with another recap of the week’s biggest Disney news and what it week it was! We had big updates from D23, the launch of the Disney Food Blog’s latest e-book, and much more!

Copper Creek Villas & Cabins Open at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is home to the 14th Disney Vacation Club property with the opening of the Copper Creek Villas & Cabins this week.
The newest DVC property includes 184 accommodations for guests including Deluxe Studios, one- and two-bedroom villas, three-bedroom villas, grand villas, and the waterfront Cascade Cabins.
The 26 waterfront cabins feature modern amenities, large living areas, and a screened-in wrap-around porches with built-in hot tubs.
Copper Creek also has a brand new pool, the zero-entry Boulder Ridge Cove Pool, which is themed to the mining history of the Pacific northwest. …

Disneyland Paris Hotel to Get Marvel-Themed Makeover

The Disney Parks and Resorts news coming out of the D23 Expo last weekend wasn’t just limited to Walt Disney World and Disneyland. We also heard an exciting update about Disneyland Paris.
Disney Parks and Resorts chairman Bob Chapek announced that Disney’s Hotel New York at Disneyland Paris will be reimagined into Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel.
The hotel will “will transport our guests to the action-packed, inspiring world of Super Heroes including Iron Man, The Avengers, and Spider Man among others!” according to Chapek.

D23 Expo Disney Parks and Resorts Panel Reveals New Projects for Walt Disney World Resort

The Disney Parks and Resorts Panel at the D23 Expo was full of exciting announcements about the Walt Disney World Resort including new attractions, new hotels, and even new transportation options.
First at Epcot, a brand new Ratatouille attraction is coming to the France Pavilion, expanding the pavilion’s size. The attraction will be similar to the 4D attraction at Disneyland Paris.
A new E-ticket attraction based on Guardians of the Galaxy is coming to Future World in Epcot. The new attraction will replace the Universe of Energy which will close on August …

Booking Open for New Year’s Eve Events at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

It’s time to make your reservations for New Year’s Eve at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Yes, really!
This year guests can choose from three different celebrations at the Contemporary, so there’s something for everyone.
The Disney Countdown to Midnight is for guests aged 18 and older and features music, dancing, and a champagne toast at midnight (for those 21 and older). The price is $250 per person. Additional information can be found here.

Captain’s Grille at Disney’s Yacht Club to Reopen as Ale & Compass Restaurant this Fall

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort will be home to a new restaurant and lounge this fall.
The Captain’s Grille is currently closed for refurbishment at the hotel and when it reopens this fall it’ll be completely re-themed as the Ale & Compass Restaurant.
The new restaurant will be serving “New England-style comfort food” for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The hotel’s Ale & Compass Lounge (located in the lobby) is also being transformed with a brand new interior look and 58 seats.
The update lounge will serve classic cocktails and “light bites.”

Summertime at the Disneyland Resort Hotels

If you’re making plans to visit Disneyland this summer, you’ll want to check out these specials for hotel guests.
Starting July 1, guests can enjoy afternoon pool parties at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, Disneyland Hotel, and Paradise Pier Hotel. The parties will feature music, dancing, and games.
Poolside cabanas are available to rent at Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. Rentals are available for the full day or a half day.

Celebrate the Fourth of July with Fireworks, Characters, Entertainment, and More

The Walt Disney World Resort is celebrating the Fourth of July with special fireworks, entertainment, and more.
The Magic Kingdom is lighting up the night on July 3 and 4 with ‘Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky.’ The nighttime fireworks show takes place at 9 p.m. both nights.

2018 Disney Dining Plan to Include Alcohol and Specialty Beverages

Booking opened today for 2018 Walt Disney World travel packages, including the 2018 Disney Dining Plan. And there’s a major change to the Dining Plan for next year – alcohol is now included.
That’s right. Guests – 21 and over of course – can now order an alcoholic beverage including beer, wine, and specialty cocktails as part of their meal (where alcohol is served).
And if you’re under age 21 you can still order a non-alcoholic specialty beverage (like a milkshake) as part of your meal.

Gone Mad Party Returns to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

The Alice in Wonderland-themed ‘Gone Mad Party’ is returning to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa!
The party takes place on Wednesday nights near the Gasparilla Island Grill at the resort.
As of press time the party is planned for the remaining Wednesdays in June – so if you’re visiting after this month be sure to check with the hotel for additional dates.
The Gone Mad Party is free for everyone – you don’t need to be a guest of the hotel to attend.
