The Walt Disney World Resort Announces New and Returning Holiday Experiences for 2017

The holiday season at Walt Disney World kicks off in early November and Disney has started to announce what experiences and events guests can expect.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is adding some new holiday events to its lineup including Sunset Seasons Greetings with a new projection show, enhanced holiday décor around Echo Lake, the return of Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! and the accompanying dessert party, Minnie’s Holiday Dine at Hollywood & Vine, and Santa Claus at the Once Upon a Time Shop.

Hurricane Irma’s Impact on the Walt Disney World Resort

Sunday night, Hurricane Irma took a somewhat unexpected turn toward the Orlando area and the Walt Disney World Resort experienced heavy wind and rains overnight.
The Disney World theme parks, Disney Springs, and the ESPN Wide World of Sports all remain closed today, September 11.
However, they will reopen tomorrow, Tuesday, September 12.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Disney is in the process of assessing damage and the Orlando area – including Disney World guests – are under a curfew until 6 p.m. today.

Welcome to another edition of our weekly news recap. Today we’re sending our thoughts to all our friends and readers in the path of Hurricane Irma.
The Walt Disney World Resort is closed today and tomorrow due to Hurricane Irma. The hotels remain open but all theme parks, water parks, Disney Spring, and the ESPN Wide World of Sports are closed until at least Tuesday.

Disney Cancels Night of Joy and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this Weekend

Hurricane Irma is on track to hit Florida this weekend, and although the path still remains uncertain Disney has announced event cancellations for this weekend.
The Saturday evening session of the Night of Joy concerts has been cancelled and Sunday night’s Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom has also been cancelled.
Guests with tickets for Saturday’s Night of Joy concerts can attend Friday’s concerts instead and may exchange their tickets at the ESPN Wide World of Sports ticket office beginning at 4 p.m. Friday.

Adventures by Disney Announce Chefs and Master Sommeliers for Rhine Food & Wine Sailings

Adventures by Disney has announced the chefs and master sommeliers for the Rhine River Food and Wine Sailings.
The 8-day, 7-night adult-only sailings take place in the fall of 2018 and take guests to four different countries.
Scott Hunnel, the Executive Chef at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will be on the September 24, 2018 sailing along with George Miliotes, who is one of only 236 Master Sommeliers in the world. He’s also behind Wine Bar George, which is opening next year in Disney Springs.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Hosting ‘Return to Sleepy Hollow’ this Fall

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort is hosting a ‘Return to Sleepy Hollow’ Halloween event on select nights in September and October.
This special Halloween event includes a screening of Disney’s 1949 classic ‘The Legend of Sleepy Hollow’ inside the Tri-Circle-D Ranch stables, along with possible sightings of the Headless Horseman.
The event takes place September 29 through October 2, October 5-9, 12-16, 19-23 and 26-31, at 8 and 10 p.m.

Disney Vacation Club Halloween Celebrations Announced

Disney Vacation Club members can celebrate Halloween at special events in Disneyland Resort and the Walt Disney World Resort.
On October 31, DVC members can enjoy a Halloween party at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and  Spa in Disneyland.
The party takes place from 3-5 p.m. in the Sequoia Ballroom and includes a DJ dance party, carnival games, and Halloween-themed food and drinks. The price is $25 per person and reservations will be available starting August 31.

Online Check-In Available on My Disney Experience App

If you’re visiting the Walt Disney World Resort and you’re staying at a WDW hotel, you can now use the Online Check-In service via the My Disney Experience app.
Online Check-In allows guests to begin their check-in experience 60 days before they arrive at Walt Disney World, essentially bypassing the front desk.
Guests can provide an email address and mobile phone number where they’ll receive notification when their room is ready. Check-In is complete when guests use their MagicBands to unlock their hotel room door.
