The Walt Disney Company Acquires 21st Century Fox

The Walt Disney Company has acquired 21st Century Fox including Twentieth Century Fox Film and Television studios for approximately $52.4 billion in stock.
The deal does not include Fox Broadcasting network and stations, Fox News, Fox Business, FS1, FS2 and Big Ten Network, which will be spun off to Fox shareholders.
Several entertainment properties including X-Men, The Simpsons, FX Networks, and National Geographic will now be part of Disney’s portfolio.

New ‘Star Wars’ Day at Sea Experiences Announced

When Star Wars Day at Sea returns to the Disney Fantasy in January guests will have a chance to enjoy new experiences featuring the Dark Side, the Resistance, and more.
The Dark Side experiences include: Darth Vader and the Stormtroopers marching into the ship’s atrium the night before the event and Kylo Ren appearing at the Jedi Training Academy.
For the Resistance, Rey will be part of the Summon the Force nighttime show; a new “Porgs Onboard! Scavenger Hunt” will take place with Chewbacca; and guests can view all the Star Wars …

New Show Starring Russell and Dug from ‘UP’ Coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom

A brand new live show starring Russell and Dug from UP is coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
The new show is set to premiere next spring in time for the 20th anniversary of the theme park, replacing Flights of Wonder.
The show will feature Wilderness Explorer Russell and his pal Dug “as they discover species of birds from around the world.” The show will take place in the Caravan Theater in Anandapur village.
Flights of Wonder will end on December 31 this year.

Shanghai Disneyland Opening Disney Toy Story Land in 2018

Shanghai Disneyland is expanding with a seventh themed land next year when Disney Toy Story Land opens.
This new land will be the first expansion at the theme park since it opened in 2016.
Just like in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, guests at Disney Toy Story Land in Shanghai Disneyland will be shrunk down to toy size.

Ample Hills Creamery Launches ‘Star Wars’ Ice Cream Flavors

Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in a little over a week and Ample Hills Creamery is preparing with the launch of three new Star Wars-themed ice cream flavors.
The new flavors will be available at the Ample Hills Creamery location at Disney’s BoardWalk.
The flavors are: First Order (salted dark chocolate ice cream with cocoa powder, bittersweet chocolate, and espresso); Resistance (brown sugar and vanilla bean ice cream with red-velvet ooey gooey butter cake, toffee pieces and mini marshmallows); and The Force (sweet cream ice cream with fudge swirls and white …

Pixar Play Parade at Disney California Adventure Adds New Elements

When the Pixar Play Parade returns to Disney California Adventure in the spring of 2018, three new elements will be part of the parade.
The parade – part of the limited-timed Pixar Fest – will start with the appearance of Luxo,  the Pixar lamp and the rolling ball that appears in many Pixar films.
Characters from Up will also join the parade including Dug, Wilderness Explorer Russel riding Kevin the bird, and Carl. They’re joined by snipe chicks and Carl’s house floating above.

Epcot’s Mexico Pavilion Celebrating ‘Coco’ with New Entertainment and Exhibits

If you’re visiting Epcot’s Mexico pavilion this month you can check out new entertainment and exhibits inspired by Disney/Pixar’s Coco.
El Mariachi Coco de Santa Cecilia, a new musical group, will be entertaining guests from now through January 6.
The group is named for the town in the film and will perform songs from Coco including “Remember Me” and “The World Es Mi Familia.”
The Mexico Folk Art Gallery currently has a display of “Dia De Muertos” artwork and will soon add an interactive exhibit and dioramas from the film.

Catch a Sneak Peek at ‘Olaf’s Frozen Adventure’ at Disney California Adventure

If you’re visiting Disney California Adventure you can catch a sneak peek at the new animated short Olaf’s Frozen Adventure prior to the performance of Frozen – Live at the Hyperion.
In the short, Olaf teams up with Sven to go on a “merry adventure” to find new holiday traditions for Anna and Elsa to celebrate.
The new animated short will arrive in theaters this week with Disney/Pixar’s Coco, which opens November 22.

Star Tours: The Adventures Continue Updated at Disney World and Disneyland

Star Tours: The Adventures Continue is getting an update at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland park.
In the attraction update guests will be able to experience a new adventure on a Starspeeder on the planet of Crait – which is from the upcoming film Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
This attraction update will debut at both parks on November 17.
But wait, there’s more! Disney has also hinted that “there is another” update coming to Star Tours. Stay tuned for that update.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in December in theaters nationwide.

More Details Announced for Star Wars Galactic Nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is hosting Star Wars Galactic Nights on December 16 and Disney has released more details about the one night event.
Celebrities announced for the event include Warrick Davis and David Collins.
Collins will appear with Imagineers during the “Inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” panel discussion which also includes Scott Trowbridge, Portfolio Creative Executive at Walt Disney Imagineering; Robin Reardon, Executive Creative Producer at Walt Disney Imagineering; Chris Beatty, Executive Creative Director at Walt Disney Imagineering, and Doug Chiang, VP/Creative Director at Lucasfilm.
