Sneak Peek at the Queue for ‘Under the Sea – Journey of The Little Mermaid’ in New Fantasyland

14 November 2012 No Comment

At the Magic Kingdom, one of the biggest new attractions coming to New Fantasyland is Under the Sea: Journey of The Little Mermaid. While fans are anxiously awaiting the grand opening, we have some photos to share with you of the queue leading up to the attraction.

Walt Disney Imagineers have made it so that guests are instantly immersed in Ariel’s world from the moment they step up to the attraction. In this photo, you can see Prince Eric’s Castle perched high atop a seaside cliff.

At the start of the queue, riders will notice a shipwrecked boat. Imagineers have added amazing details to the marquee to make the ship look as if it has been wrecked for ages, including barnacles and signs of decay. You’ll also notice that Ariel is featured as the figurehead on wrecked ship.

Moving farther along the queue, you’ll come across a beautiful shoreline complete with starfish, waterfalls and tide pools. If you pay attention, you may also notice pieces of shipwrecked boats strewn across the shoreline.

Once you’re past the shore, riders will enter the grottos to find stashes of Ariel’s shipwrecked treasures. Everything from cups to spyglasses, ships’ wheels and saucers can be found here.

You’ll also likely find a few hidden surprises along the way as you wait to board the attraction. The grand opening date for New Fantasyland is December 6 – will you be making a visit?
