Disney CEO Bob Iger to Help Raise Funds for New Film Museum

Earlier this year, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in collaboration with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) announced plans for a new film museum. Dubbed The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, this museum will occupy a 300,000 square foot space previously owned by the LACMA and feature both ongoing and rotating exhibits.
Sources have also announced that Disney CEO Bob Iger will head the committee to raise funds for the new museum.

Disney CEO Bob Iger Joins Apple’s Board

On Monday, it was announced that President and CEO of The Walt Disney Company Robert A. Iger would be taking on a role as a member of the board of Apple, Inc. Arthur D. Levinson also became Apple’s new chairman, succeeding Steve Jobs, who passed in October.
In a statement, Levison said he was “honored to be named chairman of Apple’s board” and welcomed Bob Iger to the team.

Former Disney CEO to Speak at a Conference in Anaheim

This Saturday, former chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Co. Michael Eisner will speak at the National Association of Realtors conference about his experiences running an innovative and constantly growing company, as well as what it takes to do so.

Rapunzel Officially Becomes 10th Disney Princess in London Ceremony

Rapunzel was officially recognized by Disney as a Disney Princess today, in a ceremony held at Kensington Palace in London, England. Little princesses came from across the globe to witness the Tangled star become the 10th Disney Princess, joining the elite group that includes Ariel, Aurora, Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine, Mulan, Pocahontas, Snow White and Tiana.

Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa, Celebrates Grand Opening

Disney’s newest resort, Aulani, celebrated its grand opening last night with a ceremony celebrating both Hawaiian traditions and Disney magic. While the resort opened to the public a few weeks ago, Aulani made its grand debut yesterday, with Disney CEO Bob Iger and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts president Tom Staggs on hand to lead the proceedings.

Iger Discusses the New Disney.com and Future of Digital Entertainment

In a discussion yesterday at the All Things Digital conference in Rancho Palos Verdes, Disney CEO Robert Iger explained the upcoming retooling of the Disney.com website. The site, which has undergone multiple iterations over the years, will soon become an “uber-network” for all aspects of the Disney company. Groundbreaking Ceremony Held for Shanghai Disney Resort

We wrote earlier this week about Disney’s final approval to begin work on Shanghai Disney Resort. Walt Disney Pavilion Holds Grand Opening at Florida Hospital for Children

Combining Disney characters and expert medical care, the new seven story Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children was opened on Wednesday.  President and CEO of the Walt Disney Company Bob Iger was present for the opening ceremonies.
The full-service facility offers more than 90 pediatric specialists and experts in Central Florida, as well as over 1,000 highly trained employees specializing in pediatric care. The hospital is equipped with private pediatric rooms, uniquely suited to accommodate families, and a pediatric emergency department, as well as the Advanced Center for Pediatric Surgery.

Bob Iger Addresses Issue with Disney Employee Identification Cards

During a question and answer session at the Walt Disney Company’s shareholder meeting in Salt Lake City last Wednesday, Disney president and CEO Bob Iger responded to a potential problem that was brought up by a representative of the Disneyland Resort’s hotel union.
The problem? Disney employee identification cards are embedded with the employee’s social security number, which some employees are saying puts them at risk for identity theft.
