Never Land Pirate Band to Perform at Downtown Disney August 3-12

Fans of the hit show Jake and the Neverland Pirates who are heading to Walt Disney World this August are in for a treat. Disney recently announced that the Never Land Pirate Band will be performing at Walt Disney World’s Downtown Disney August 3-12.
Guests will be able to enjoy Sharky and Bones’ performance at Downtown Disney’s Waterside Stage, where they will perform each day at 2:00, 3:00, and 5:00 PM. The band will perform some of their hit songs from the popular Disney Junior show, including “Roll Up the Map,” …

More Casting Announced for ‘Saving Mr. Banks’

This week, Disney announced some additional casting for their upcoming film Saving Mr. Banks, which is set to star Tom Hanks as Walt Disney and Emma Thompson as P.L. Travers in the tale of their negotiations in bringing Mary Poppins to the screen. Paul Giamatti, Jason Schwartzmann, and Ruth Wilson have joined the film’s cast in supporting roles.

Disney’s Aulani Resort Planning Expansion

Since it’s opening, Disney’s Aulani Resort & Spa has been a popular vacation stay for families visiting Hawaii. In an effort to make the resort even more amazing, they are already planning an expansion to help families enjoy their vacation even more.
Sources have announced that new water features will be added to the Waikolohe Valley pool area as well as additional deck space for sunbathers or visitors who just want to relax and enjoy the view.

Tickets for D23 Expo 2013 Go On Sale in August

Next month, D23: The Official Disney Fan Club will begin selling tickets to next year’s D23 Expo which will run from August 9 to 11, 2013.
The expo is the largest Disney fan event in the world and brings together all parts of The Walt Disney Company in one place, including The Walt Disney Studios; Walt Disney Parks and Resorts; Disney Consumer Products; Media Networks and Disney Interactive.

Disney XD’s ‘TRYathlon’ Special Airing Next Month

Disney XD already runs a “TRYit” program, which encourages kids to get up, get outside and try a new activity. Now, the network is expanding that initiative with TRYathlon.
Pairing professional athletes with Disney stars and regular viewers, the athletes will coach their team members to compete in a variety of activities that will not only test their skills but their teamwork as well.

Star Sighting: Carrie Underwood & Mike Fisher Pal Around with Minnie at Walt Disney World Resort

Carrie Underwood and her husband Mike Fisher, an NHL Nashville Predators player, were able to take some time out of their busy schedules to visit Walt Disney World Resort.
There, they met Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and the rest of the Disney gang. In the photo you see here, Minnie Mouse welcomed the couple to Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Disney Moves 3D Release of ‘Monsters, Inc.’ to December

Disney has moved up the 3D re-release of the smash Pixar hit Monsters, Inc. to coincide with a void in the family marketplace.
Initially, the re-release was slated for January 18, 2013. Now, it has been moved up to December 19, 2012 just in time for the holidays.
Currently, there are no other animated films set to open in December. Disney/Pixar’s Wreck-It Ralph and DreamWorks Animations Rise of the Guardians both open the month previously: November 2 and November 18, respectively.

Sneak Peek: The Lion King Wing at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

The Disney Parks Blog has offered up a sneak peek at one of the themed wings opening at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort: The Lion King wing. This wing doesn’t officially open until August 10, but you can check out the photo to the right for a glimpse at what you can expect when this wing opens to the public.
Additionally, the final wing of the resort themed after The Little Mermaid will open September 15. We’ll keep you posted on further developments as we get closer to the final opening …

‘Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom’ Trading Card Came Launching Soon

The wildly popular role-playing game Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, which allows guests to work with Merlin to stop Disney Villains from taking over the park, will be getting its own trading card game based on the park experience. The at-home trading card game will be a way for consumers to collect the super-rare spell cards as well as a lot more.

Health Officials Investigate Bizarre Illness Linked to Disney World’s ‘Wild Africa Trek’

Orange County health officials are currently investigating a cluster of illnesses that appear to be connected to Walt Disney World’s “Wild Africa Trek” experience, an exclusive tour where guests get up close and personal with wildlife at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
According to Dain Weister, a spokesman for the Orange County Health Department, there are “several dozens of cases” among visitors who took the tour in June and July, although the source of the illness remains a mystery.
