Captain EO Headed Back to it’s Original Home, EPCOT in Walt Disney World

After a popular reopening this past February in California’s Disneyland, Captain EO is ready to spread it’s futuristic nostalgia across Disney parks worldwide. Set to celestially transport guests in Disneyland Paris & Tokyo Disneyland this coming June, the announcement many fans were waiting for came today; Captain EO is returning to Walt Disney World! Thomas Smith, social media director for Disney Parks, made the announcement today that starting July 2nd Captain EO will return to EPCOT, which originally housed Captain EO during it’s debut run.

“I remember enjoying ‘Captain EO’ during its original run at Epcot from 1986–1994. But for some of you, it’ll be a new experience,” said Smith. “The film features Michael Jackson as ‘Captain EO’ and a crew of Disney-created space characters. During their journey, the group uses the power of dance, light and music to turn a colorless planet into a world of color and happiness.”

A joint venture between Michael Jackson, producer George Lucas and director Francis Ford Coppolahe, Captain EO is a 17-minute display of futuristic musical theater full of colorful characters, 80’s appropriate space-fantasy costumes, complexly choreographed dance scenes, and a naturally unforgettable soundtrack. Michael Jackson and his space crew zestfully use the power of light, music, and dance to defeat a menacing witch.

No indication has been given as to how long the EPCOT revival will last, but rumor is spreading that Captain EO may be taking over it’s original spot in Future World’s “Honey I Shrunk the Audience” theater. Disneyland had already spent a large sum to dismantle & refurbish it’s ‘shrunken’ theater to make way for Captain EO, which could likely happen at Walt Disney World.

Guests can preview Captain EO on You Tube to decide the viewing appropriateness for their family. 3-D scenes containing the space witch up close, along with some loud noises & scenes may be frightening to some children.
