Earlier this week, nominations for the 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards were announced by the Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the Walt Disney Company is certainly well-represented. Between the ABC Television Network, ABC Studios, ABC.com, Disney XD, and Disney Channel, the company garnered 45 nominations in total.

Leading the pack with 17 nominations was the ABC sitcom Modern Family. The show, which just finished its second season, was nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series and earned six nominations in the Supporting Actor/Actress categories alone. Modern Family was also nominated for Writing, Guest Actor (Nathan Lane), Art Direction, Casting, Directing, Picture Editing and Sound Mixing, making it the comedy show this year with the most Emmy nominations.

Other ABC shows to earn nominations included Brothers & Sisters (Guest Actor), Desperate Housewives (Outstanding Voice Over Performance), Jimmy Kimmel Live (Lighting and Picture Editing), and Grey’s Anatomy (Makeup and Guest Actress). The holiday special Disney Prep & Landing: Operation Secret Santa was also nominated in the Short-Form Animated Program category. Popular ABC reality show Dancing with the Stars garnered seven nominations, for host Tom Bergeron, Choreography, Hairstyling, Lighting, Makeup, and Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, and Video Control for a Series. The show was also nominated for Outstanding Reality – Competition Program for the sixth consecutive year.

The 83rd Annual Academy Awards ceremony received nine nominations, including a nomination for Outstanding Special Class Program. The ABC television website, ABC.com, was also recognized, earning two nominations in the Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media category for both ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy Sync and Oscar Digital Experience.

Outside of ABC Television, Disney also earned two nominations for the Disney Channel show Wizards of Waverly Place in the categories of Outstanding Children’s Program and Cinematography. Disney XD show Pair of Kings was nominated for Cinematography as well.
