Disney Plans to Release ‘Star Wars’ Spin-offs

Since Disney’s acquisition of the Star Wars franchise, fans have been eagerly awaiting news of the media giant’s plans for the beloved favorite. While we already knew Disney plans to create the post-Return of the Jedi trilogy, it now appears that they also have plans to make spin-off films starring Han Solo and Boba Fett.

According to several media reports, the Han Solo film would take place between Return of the Sith and the first Star Wars film. Meanwhile, the Boba Fett film could take place between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back or between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. At this point, however, Disney and Lucasfilm have declined to comment on the information. Disney CEO Bob Iger did say, however, that spin-off plans for the franchise did exist.

As of this writing, there has been no word on who might direct these spin-off films, although we do know that the Han Solo flick would need a new leading man for the role that Harrison Ford played. Are you excited about the possibility of these Star Wars spin-offs coming to life?
