‘Gnomeo & Juliet’ Soundtrack, Featuring Elton John, to be Released February 8

If you’ve ever wanted to see garden gnomes rock out to Elton John tunes, here’s your chance!

Buena Vista Records has announced that it will release the soundtrack of “Gnomeo & Juliet” on February 8.  The soundtrack features 14 songs, nine of which are by Elton John and Bernie Taupin.  Of particular interest are the two new songs the renowned songwriting duo have created for the film, “Hello Hello” and “Love Builds a Garden.”  In addition, Nellie Furtado joins Elton John on a rousing remake of the classic “Crocodile Rock.”

James Newton Howard, a former member of Elton John’s band and a notable composer in his own right, provided the score for the film, many songs from which are also featured on the album.

Elton John, who also served as executive producer on the project, thought the twist on the original worth telling.  “‘Romeo and Juliet’ is one of the greatest love stories of all time, and garden gnomes are huge in many countries throughout the world.  We thought this would be a really good idea.”

The soundtrack for “Gnomeo & Juliet” is available for pre-order now through Amazon.  The film opens everywhere just in time for Valentine’s Day, February 11.
