New, Original Disney/Pixar Film to Debut in November 2013

This is an exciting time for Disney/Pixar fans, with the animation studio’s newest film Cars 2 set to debut in just a few days on June 24. But fans now have yet another Disney/Pixar film to look forward to, as Disney announced that the company will release a currently untitled project in theaters on November 27, 2013. Few details about the new film have been released, but it is announced that the film will have an original story, and will not be a sequel.

This mystery project will follow the already-announced Disney/Pixar filmsĀ Brave, set to debut in 2012, and Monsters University, the prequel to popular film Monsters Inc, which will debut in the summer of 2013. The new film is expected to be directed by Up director Pete Docter.

In an interview with Moviefone in 2010, Docter discussed the early beginnings of his new project, saying:

“I’m on a couple of different things that are pretty early on; one’s being storyboarded and put up on reels, which is where the rubber meets the road,” he said. “That’s the hard part of it. The early days, usually you can think of all these great ideas, and they sound interesting and intriguing, and then you get in there and you have to storyboard it to make each beat work. Make you care about the character, yet have him flawed so he can have growth throughout the film. Those are hard things to do! And just when you think you understand now how you’re going to do it, the next film comes up and hits you from the side and you didn’t see it coming. It’s not easy!”
