Happy weekend! We’re just a couple days away from the 2016 Epcot Food and Wine Festival! But first, let’s recap the biggest Disney news stories of the week.
Applications opened for the 2017 Disney Parks Moms Panel. The global application process is for moms, dads, grandparents, and Disney vacation planning experts who want to serve on the panel that makes up the online trip-planning forum. Applications close on September 14 at noon.

Walt Disney World Resort Begins Scanning Kids’ Fingers at Park Entrances

Guests at the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks have had their finger scanned at park entrances for years and now kids also have to scan a finger.
Disney recently started requiring kids ages 3 to 9 year old to scan a finger when they enter the theme park.
However, if parents aren’t comfortable with the scan, they can opt to use one of their own fingers instead.

New Comic Inspired by Walt Disney Enchanted Tiki Room Debuts this Fall

Fans of Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room can enjoy a new comic book series inspired by the iconic Disney attraction.
The comic series features five stories that take place at the Enchanted Tiki Room that is located on an isolated island.
The island is populated by birds that talk and sing, in addition to plants and ancient Tiki gods. When visitors arrive on the island mysteries are revealed.

Disney Parks Buses Now Traveling Between Theme Parks and Disney Springs

Guests visiting the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks can now hop on a resort bus and go directly from the theme park to Disney Springs.
Buses are departing Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom each day starting at 4 p.m. with a direct route to Disney Springs.
There’s also a new drop-off location in the heart of Disney Springs, putting guests in the middle of Town Center.

Watch Live Stream of Main Street Electrical Parade on August 28

If you aren’t going to make it to the Magic Kingdom before October 9 – the last day for the Main Street Electrical Parade, don’t be too sad!
You can catch a live-stream of the parade on Sunday, August 28 on the Disney Parks Blog.

Disney Launches New Mobile Game, ‘Disney Emoji Blitz’

If you’re a fan of Disney and emojis there’s a new mobile game just for you!
Disney Emoji Blitz is the game and players can collect and play with Disney and Pixar emojis and even earn Disney Parks emojis.
This is the first mobile game that is connected to a custom keyboard featuring more than 400 emojis of Disney and Pixar characters. The characters featured including fan favorites from The Lion King, Cinderella, Frozen, Finding Dory, The Little Mermaid, and more.

There’s a new children’s book coming from Disney Publishing that is all about the Haunted Mansion.
The book is part of the ‘Disney Parks Presents’ series from Disney Publishing – and the series isn’t just books. The picture books also come with CDs and original artwork based on popular Disney Parks rides and attractions.
Basically fans can relive their favorite attractions at home thanks to this new series.

New Kingdom Couture Collection Coming to the Disney Parks

A brand new style collection – Kingdom Couture – is coming to the Disney Parks this spring.
The collection was created specifically for the Disney Parks and uses “luxurious fabrics and intricate details.”
Fans will find a collection full of apparel and accessories that are, as Disney puts it, “fit for royalty.”
Several items in the collection feature an iconic castle image.
The spring collection arrives later this month and additional items will be added later this year.

New ‘Star Wars’-Inspired Alex and Ani Bangles Coming to the Disney Parks

Fans of Alex and Ani bracelets and Star Wars can now combine their loves in a new collection of bangles debuting at the Disney Parks.
The new Star Wars-inspired Alex and Ani collection debuts on April 18.
The collection includes 3D expandable wire bangles featuring R2-D2 or BB-8 in Rafaelian silver finish. There is also an expandable wire bangle featuring a Stormtrooper for those with a flair for the Dark Side.

Disney Parks Donates $2 Million to Make-A-Wish After #ShareYourEars Campaign Success

After the success of the #ShareYourEars campaign, Disney Parks announced that it increased its original $1 million donation to Make-A-Wish to $2 million.
For the #ShareYourEars campaign fans were encouraged to share images of themselves wearing Mickey ears and use the hashtag for the campaign when the photos were shared on social media.
For each #ShareYourEars hashtag, a donation from the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts was unlocked until the total reached $1 million.
