The Walt Disney Company Pledges $1 Million in Hurricane Relief

The Walt Disney Company has announced it will donate $1 million to assist the people and communities that were affected by Hurricane Matthew.
The money will be used in Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean.
In a press release Disney CEO Bob Iger said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with all the children and families whose lives were impacted by this tragic storm. We hope that Disney’s support will aid ongoing relief efforts as people begin to recover and rebuild.”

The Week in Disney News: Hurricane Matthew Closes Disney World, New Vacation Deals Announced, and More

Whew! What a week it’s been. For only the fourth time in its history, the Walt Disney World Resort closed all the theme parks in anticipation of a hurricane this week.
As Hurricane Matthew barreled toward Florida last last week the theme parks, water parks, and Disney Springs were closed at 5 p.m. Thursday and remained closed on Friday.
Disney also relocated hotel guests from several of the resort’s hotels including Fort Wilderness.
It was back to business as usual by 8 a.m. Saturday!

Walt Disney World Resort to Reopen Saturday, October 8

As Hurricane Matthew continues its trek up the southeast coast, it appears that the Orlando area was spared the full force of the hurricane overnight.
The Walt Disney World Resort was closed all day Friday, October 7 – the fourth time in the resort’s history that it closed – but all theme parks and Disney Springs will reopen on Saturday, October 8.
All four parks will reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday morning. Disney Springs, the water parks, and the mini golf courses will resume normal operating hours.

Breaking News: Walt Disney World Closing Theme Parks, Water Parks, and Disney Springs Before Arrival of Hurricane Matthew

The Walt Disney World Resort has announced that it will close all theme parks, water parks, Disney Springs, and the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at 5 p.m. today ahead of the arrival of Hurricane Matthew.
Disney posted on the Walt Disney World Resort website: Based on the most recent forecasts for Hurricane Matthew, Walt Disney World theme parks, water parks, Disney Springs, miniature golf courses and ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex will all be closed today by 5 p.m. and will remain closed through Friday, Oct. 7. Walt Disney World Resort Relocates Some Hotels Guests Ahead of Hurricane Matthew

Walt Disney World Resort has relocated guests at several hotels as Hurricane Matthew moves closer to the eastern coast of Florida.
Guests at Fort Wilderness campground, Disney’s Polynesian Village bungalows, and the Saratoga Springs Treehouse Villas were moved to other lodging on property.
The guests in campers and RVs at Fort Wilderness were reportedly moved to one of the Magic Kingdom parking lots.
As of press time, Disney World has also made some changes to events including closing Blizzard Beach today and tomorrow, closing Typhoon Lagoon tomorrow, and canceling the Spirit of Aloha …
