Disney Closing ‘Toontown’ and Other Virtual World Online Games

In a week that brought the highly-anticipated debut of Disney Infinity, the Walt Disney Company has announced that it is closing down the decade-old Toontown Online video game.
The online game will shut down on September 19, along with the Pirates of the Caribbean Online and Disney Fairies Pixie Hollow. Toontown is what’s known as a massively multiplayer online game (MMO) and cost players $9.95 a month to play.

Disneyland’s Toontown Evacuated Tuesday Night after Small Explosion in Trash Can

A small explosion in a trash can Tuesday night in Disneyland’s Toontown led police to evacuate visitors from that area of the park. No injuries were reported.
The Anaheim Police Department said the device appeared to be a “dry ice bomb” made up of dry ice placed in a plastic bottle. A police sergeant said it was similar to other devices that have been found in Anaheim neighborhoods in recent months, and investigators are looking into whether those events are connected.

Star Sighting: Alyson Hannigan and Daughter Celebrate their Birthday at Disneyland

The How I Met Your Mother actress Alyson Hannigan, who shares a birthday with her daughter Satyana, celebrated by taking a family trip to Disneyland. Her husband, Alexis Denisof, was also on hand to celebrate with his two favorite girls.
They definitely seemed to be enjoying “The Happiest Place on Earth,” and had a blast checking out the attractions at the theme park, including “It’s A Small Word” and Toontown.

New Details Come to Light Regarding Fantasyland’s Storybook Circus

We’re learning more this week about just how Dumbo’s future home at Magic Kingdom will shape up with the Fantasyland expansion.
Previously, Disney leadership shared concept art of what would become the new “Storybook Circus” part of Fantasyland.  The area will be themed on the popular Dumbo ride, and will utilize the existing attraction, but will also add a second carousel to ease congestion in what is always a crowded area.   This week, however, we’re also learning more about where the ride will be situated, and how it will function.

A New Fairy Takes Up Residency at the Magic Kingdom, Meet Vidia!

Tinker Bell, Silvermist, Fawn, Iridessa, Terence, and Rosetta have made room in Pixie Hollow for another set of wings! Meet Vidia, she’s known for being the fastest-flying Disney fairy. She’s a classic loner, has a prickly personality, lives in a sour plum tree all alone, and isn’t known for being as warm & friendly as the other fairies.

Mickey Mouse Talks! Interactive Mickey Being Tested in Disneyland

Disney park guests may be used to hearing Mickey’s globally recognizable voice during stage shows, parades, and cartoons but guests at the Disneyland Resort this week were in for quite a surprise during some experimental meet and greet sessions. Mickey interacted in ways that Disney Park guests have never experienced before; he talked to them & responded to conversation!
