The Week in Disney News: Rivers of Light Opening Date Announced, Wishes to be Replaced, and More

riversoflightWhew! What a busy week it’s been in the world of Disney news! We have updates about Rivers of Light, a new nighttime show at the Magic Kingdom, and so much more. Let’s dive right in!

After nearly a year-long delay, the Rivers of Light nighttime show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is opening on February 17! The show is currently in “soft open” which means you be able to see it before Friday.

If you’re making plans to see the Rivers of Light you can also book a dining package that includes a meal at either Tusker House or Tiffins.

Wishes, the longtime fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom, is being replaced in May with a new “nighttime spectacular” – Happily Ever After. The new show will feature fireworks, pyrotechnics, projections on Cinderella Castle, and much more. The new show starts May 12.

A new Doc McStuffins meet-and-greet is coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and a new Beauty and the Beast live show is coming to the Disney Dream.

The Star Wars-themed lands at Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios are set to open in 2019! And, Pandora: The World of AVATAR is opening May 27 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

And finally, dining packages are available for the Garden Rocks concert series at the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival.
