‘Toy Story 3’ Scribe Michael Arndt to Write ‘Star Wars Episode VII’ Script

While Disney and Lucasfilm’s announcement that a new Star Wars film would arrive in theaters in 2015 came less than two weeks ago, progress is already being made on this highly anticipated film. This week, it was announced that pre-production for the film has already begun, and already attached to the film is Michael Arndt, who will pen the film’s script.

Arndt is no stranger to Disney, who will now be producing the new Star Wars installment due to its recent acquisition of Lucasfilm. In addition to writing the Oscar-nominated script for Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 3, Arndt is also currently writing the Phineas & Ferb feature film and was also attached to Disney’s now-cancelled film The Order of the Seven. Arndt also wrote the script for the 2006 film Little Miss Sunshine, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.

No other updates have been confirmed yet for the new installment of the Star Wars franchise, but we’re looking forward to hearing more about this incredibly exciting new film as it moves forward. Star Wars: Episode VII will debut in theaters in 2015.
