Walt Disney World’s Grand Floridian Spa to Close for 18 Months

Spa lovers headed to Walt Disney World, take note! Disney announced recently that the Spa at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will close next month as part of an expansion project at the resort. The spa will officially close on September 19, and will be shut down for 18 months.

“We are in the early stages of an expansion project at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa,” Disney spokesman Bryan Malenius said Friday. The spa will “temporarily close this fall as part of a planned renovation.”

Disney has not divulged what the resort’s expansion will include, but there has been speculation that the building to be built next to the spa will include new units for Disney Vacation Club members. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is considered to be Walt Disney World’s “flagship” resort, and standard rooms at the Victorian-themed hotel begin at $440/night.

Heading to Walt Disney World during the closure and want to spend some time at the spa? While the Grand Floridian may not be an option, you can still head to the spa at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, as well as the Mandara Spa at the Walt Disney World Dolphin.
