Disney World’s “It’s a Small World” To Close for Refurbishment

If you were planning on riding the classic “It’s a Small World” ride at Disney World next week it might be time for a change of plans. According to the Disney Parks Blog the ride will be closing this Sunday for refurbishment until October 22nd.
Disneyland recently did a refurbishment to their version of the attraction, in which they added characters from Disney’s popular animated films. Most of the fans of the classic ride seemed nonplussed at the additions of characters like Lilo and Stitch to one of the …

Rapunzel to Replace “Storytime With Belle” at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom

The Disney Parks Blog is reporting that a new “play and greet” experience based on the upcoming “Tangled” will be replacing “Storytime with Belle” in the Magic Kingdom.
The final “Storytime with Belle” will be on September 12th. Inside the Magic Speculates:
The “play and greet” sounds strikingly like a precursor to what is planned for Disney’s ongoing Fantasyland expansion that will include several new houses, each with their own interactive area for children of all ages to spend quality time with their favorite Disney Princesses.

Selena Gomez Does “Silent” Interview On “Lopez Tonight”

Selena Gomez was scheduled to appear on “Lopez Tonight” this past week and decided that she was not going to let her strained vocal chords keep her from keeping her appointment.
The Disney Channel star, singer and movie actress opted instead to use a white board and a voice synthesizer to do her interview with Lopez. Paul Lee Named New President of ABC

Following the unexpected departure of former ABC president Stephen McPherson, Disney announced today that Paul Lee, who has been head of the ABC Family cable channel for the past six years, will take over as the new president of the ABC Entertainment Group. Lee, whose new position will begin immediately, will oversee ABC Productions, as well as ABC Entertainment’s development, programming, marketing and scheduling operations.

Concept Art for Mickey’s Soundsational Parade, Debuting 2011

Disneyland will be welcoming a new parade in 2011! Mickey’s Soundsational Parade will blast onto the scene with bright colors and incredible new music and sounds come next year.
The Disney Parks Blog revealed the concept art for the show today:

Disney Sells Miramax for $660 million

The 6-month drama is over and Disney has finally sold off art-film house Miramax to Filmyard Holding LLC, a group of investors including construction executive Ronald Tutor and Colony Capital LLC, a private equity firm.
“Our current strategy for Walt Disney Studios is to focus on the development of great motion pictures under the Disney, Pixar and Marvel brands,” President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Iger said in the statement, according to Bloomberg.

New Show Coming to Disney Parks That Features Hit Disney Channel Songs

Fans of the Disney Channel and its hit songs will have a new show to look forward to in both the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts soon, the Disney Parks Blog reports. A new, currently unnamed show featuring songs from the popular channel will be coming this fall to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney California Adventure.

Disney Vacation Club Showroom Opens at Tokyo Disneyland

The Disney Vacation Club extended its presence to Japan today, as Tokyo Disneyland opened its first Disney Vacation Club Model Showroom at the Ikspiari shopping and dining complex.
Taking advantage of the high affinity for Disney in Japan, the new showroom is the first international sales preview center for the Disney Vacation Club. 2011 Walt Disney World Marathon Medal Design Revealed!

Over 50,000 votes were cast & Disney is now revealing the official 2011 Walt Disney World Marathon medal design. This is the first medal design chosen by racers, who voted on the official Walt Disney World Marathon website.
