2013 Walt Disney World Marathon Officially Sells Out

Runners who have not registered for the Walt Disney World Marathon this January may be out of luck, as Disney announced this week that the popular race has officially sold out. Over 25,000 runners have registered for the 26.2 mile race, which will be celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
The marathon sold out just five months after registration opened for the event, which is one of the quickest sell outs in the event’s history. Runners can still register for the race by going through groups with reserved entries, such as …

Jimmy Grabow Wins Disneyland Half Marathon With Record-Setting Time

Yesterday, over 17,000 runners from 50 states and 19 countries took part in the 2012 Disneyland Half Marathon. The course was the first Disneyland race to travel down Route 66 in the brand-new Cars Land, and runners raced through a course that included Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure, Angel Stadium, and the streets of Anaheim.
The first of these thousands of runners to complete the 13.1 mile course was Jimmy Grabow of Running Springs, CA, who set a new record for the race with his time of 1:05:29. The first woman …

Brazil’s Fredison Costa Repeats First Place Finish in Walt Disney World Marathon

It was an exciting finish at this morning’s Walt Disney World Marathon, in which Brazil’s Fredison Costa narrowly edged out his fellow Brazilian, Adriano Bastos, to win the race for the second consecutive year.
Bastos was favored to finish the event first, but came in second to Costa by a sliver of 14 seconds.  Bastos has enjoyed the title of champion seven times in previous years.  Costa’s winning time was 2:19:01, while the field’s leading female finisher, Renee High of Virginia Beach, Virginia, turned in a time of 2:48:33.

New Medal Debuts for Walt Disney World 2012 Half Marathon

Running in the 2012 Walt Disney World Half Marathon this January? Check out this new medal, which will be awarded to those who finish the 13. 1 mile-long race. The medal commemorates the 15th Anniversary of the Half Marathon and features Donald Duck.
The Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend is an annual event that draws around 54,000 runners to the World. The jam-packed weekend includes the Walt Disney World Marathon, Half Marathon, 5K, a marathon relay, and kids’ races. Marathon Weekend 2012 will take place January 5-8, 2012.

Run Disney Update: Princess Half Marathon Registration Opens; Wine and Dine Sells Out

What a busy week it has been for Disney running event enthusiasts!
If you were hoping to get a spot in the 2011 Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon, you have missed your chance.  The event, which will be held October 1 at Walt Disney World, had sold out of individual spots as of Thursday.  RunDisney’s Facebook page is, however, reporting that there are still a few spots left with charitable organizations and tour operators.  Spots also remain for the Half Marathon Relay, which is being held for the first time in 2011, as well as the Disney Halloween …

Medal Unveiled for Inaugural Tinker Bell Half Marathon

Runners in the Inaugural Tinker Bell Half Marathon this year will definitely have something to look forward to when they reach the finish line. Disney recently unveiled the gorgeous medal for the new event, featuring fairy wings and a spinning Tinker Bell figurine, which awaits runners who complete this 13.1 mile run.
The Tinker Bell Half Marathon will take place over the weekend of January 27-29, 2012 at the Disneyland Resort. Runners will make their way through a course that goes through Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, and several landmarks …

Wine and Dine Half Marathon After Party Tickets Now Available

Disney’s Wine and Dine Half Marathon is just around the corner – and now you can purchase tickets for friends and family for the After Party!
The After Party is a celebration that takes place at the finish line of the Wine and Dine Half Marathon, which happens to be at Epcot.  For friends and family of runners, it’s a chance to join in the fun and festivities – the party lasts until three in the morning!

Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend Draws Record Number of Participants

The curtain has fallen on another successful Disney signature marathon event, but not before records were set.
This past weekend, an event-record 22,000 runners participated in the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend events, which included a 5K, family fun races, a health and fitness expo, as well as the headlining half marathon through the streets and parks of Walt Disney World.
More than 17,000 runners participanted in the half marathon alone – many donning tutus or tiaras for the special occasion.  Thirty-three year old Jennifer Hanley-Pinto from Jacksonville, Florida, led the field …

Registration Open for Disney’s 2011 ‘Wine and Dine’ Half Marathon

Disney has opened registration for its second annual “Wine and Dine” half marathon.
The event, which has the distinction of being the only Disney marathon event to be held at night, takes participating runners through three different parks as they run.  Held the first Saturday of Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival, the finish line is located at Epcot and offers runners an opportunity to celebrate their accomplishment with – what else? – food and wine!
