The Walt Disney Company Pledges $1 Million in Hurricane Relief
The money will be used in Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean.
In a press release Disney CEO Bob Iger said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with all the children and families whose lives were impacted by this tragic storm. We hope that Disney’s support will aid ongoing relief efforts as people begin to recover and rebuild.”
The funds will go to the American Red Cross and Save the Children, in addition to local charitable disaster relief organizations. Disney is working with both organizations in addition to other local, state, and federal offices in the areas impacted by Matthew.
Hurricane Matthew led to the closing of the Walt Disney World Resort on October 6 and 7. It devastated areas of the Caribbean, and the southeast coast.
