‘Boy Meets World’ Sequel Series May Come to Disney Channel

Many children who grew up in the 1990’s will fondly remember Boy Meets World, the hit sitcom that ran from 1993-2000 and became one of the most beloved and enduring shows for children of that era (including this writer). Following the show’s enduring success through syndication and DVD sales, TVLine is now reporting that a sequel series to the show may be in the works at Disney Channel.

Boy Meets World was an ABC series produced by Disney’s Touchstone Television division, which followed the life of middle child Corey Matthews as he faced the trials and tribulations of growing up. The show followed him from the 6th grade through college, including his marriage to his high school sweetheart, Topanga. The sequel series, entitled Girl Meets World, would follow the life of Corey and Topanga’s preteen daughter.

Sources report that the new series is still in the very early stages at Disney Channel. The channel is reportedly currently trying to land the series’ original stars Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel to reprise their roles as Corey and Topanga.

For fans of the original series, this news is both surprising and exciting, and we’re excited to see if and how this new series will develop. Stay tuned for more news on this potential new series.
